I'm about to buy a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop and wondered about the Intel X3100 video card?
I use my laptop to load and unload photos, videos, and episodes in places like abc.com, cbs.com, etc. But I have not played any games-to the extent of my game is solitaire, etc.. Is this video card enough for me or should I spend the extra money to get an nVidia graphics card or something else?

How to choose a new business laptop from Dell or Lenovo
Choosing a new laptop for work can be particularly confusing. With so many options available, it is difficult to say which model, features and price range that best suit their needs. Clients often approach us and want to know what that the terminology of some means and how to configure your laptop. I will explain the terminology you need to know to buy a laptop online from Dell or Lenovo that meets your needs.
We begin with a brief description of the product lines for Dell and Lenovo laptops (of business class only).
Dell Vostro: Mid-range laptop. Goes for around $ 400 to $ 700 plus tax and shipping where applicable. XP "version Previous "available. Balance of features, build quality, and price.
Dell Latitude: Dell's high business-laptop end. Goes for around $ 600 to $ 1000 plus tax and shipping where applicable. XP "downgrade" available. Good quality construction and features available.
Lenovo Thinkpad SL-series: Entry-high-level business laptop. Build solid construction (not fooled by the antiquated!). Priced between $ 500 and $ 700. XP "downgrade" available ".
Lenovo Thinkpad Serie A: Mid-range laptop with more options and features of the SL. Priced between $ 700 and $ 900.
Lenovo ThinkPad T-series: Lenovo (and IBM) long line of laptops most important. The T series has all the gifts available, along with excellent build quality. Price varies from $ 800 to $ 1300 +.
Next, I will present some technical terms you'll encounter when browsing or customizing a laptop Dell or Lenovo's site.
Processor: What you want is the Intel Core 2 Duo (C2D) technology. In essence, it can be described as two processors (cores) on a chip. Hard drive: The hard disk size depends largely on what kind of files to be saved,. If you are dealing mainly with e-mail, Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, quanitities small PDF files, and the image from time to time, any hard drive larger than 60GB will be enough. If you save these files as large numbers of PDF files, video files, or a lot of graphics, for a capacity of 120GB hard GB to 250 GB.
Most importantly, choose a drive speed of 5,400 rpm. It's usually the standard option, and is a good balance between speed and battery life. 7200 units are also available at additional cost and help with load times in general, at the expense of battery life.
Screen size / resolution: For the screen size usually recommend 14.1 "inches. This size gives a good balance of size, weight, viewability for people taking their laptop on the road. If you plan to keep at a desk with only the occasional move, you should consider a 15.4 ". Remember, the bigger the screen, the weight of the laptop.
Additional options for a display could include some type of glossy finish – avoid, how to create a lot of glare in bright light environments.
So far this resolution, 1280×800 pixels is quite common in recent widescreen notebooks. If your eyesight is not as good, stick with that. The wireless card: If you have a newer wireless-N network setup, take advantage of it by getting a game integrated into the wireless-N card for your laptop. Offers higher transfer speeds and the wireless signal strength older-b / g technology.
Other options to consider:
- Docking station – Highly recommended if your laptop shuffle back and forth to work elsewhere. Lets you connect an external monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer and other peripherals without having to disconnect and reconnect every time out.
- Warranty Duration – Most manufacturers 1 year warranty offer service for free (though Dell has 3 years of series in its line of latitude).
- Included software – Stay away purchase of office productivity tools for notebook manufacturers because they charge more. It is best to buy and install the software on their own.
I hope these tips have helped clarify the process of buying a business laptop.
