Turning on the computer to your Iphone or Ipod Touch
Turn the computer from the iPhone or iPod Touch
Yes, your iPod Touch / iPhone can do that!
I do not know if this is your case, but I have a Linux Media Center PC in my living room with Mythbuntu installed, it makes me really happy. So far this has been most of my main passion … until I got my iPod Touch really nice!
Here are listening to a happy owner of a 2nd generation iPod Touch. Since I bought it, I've been trying to do a lot of things geek. What can I say? This is my hobby, my quality time! I hope you find this article much more interesting than my wife!
As one of these things geek was: would not it be nice to turn my computer room on my iPod Touch???
First things first: Wake on LAN
Or, how to activate computers through network
That's right. All can be done by a team of standard Ethernet network that allows a computer to be turned (or awakened) by a network message, called Wake-on-LAN, or in short, WOL. Since this is a standard Ethernet, which only work with your Ethernet card (no, not working in wireless cards connected to your PC).
Support for Wake-on-LAN is implemented on the motherboard of a computer and the network interface. It is not at all depend on the operating system you are running.
So, tell me your motherboard – card WOL support network? It is a widely used standard for his team should probably also support it.
Enabling Wake on LAN capabilities
To do this, you must enter the computer BIOS. Usually, simply press F1 or F2 or Delete key right after you turn on your PC. If the operating system starts to load, then you've lost your chance and restarting it again!
I have a IBM Netvista desktop and for me having to press F1. Once inside, start searching for the menu item "Wake on LAN" or something similar. On my computer from IBM, which was under the "Automatic Power On".
As you can see in the picture, I just needed to change Disabled to Automatic Wake on LAN.
Now all you need to do before going to your iPod is to find the team MAC address.
Our work in the PC is done … now, with hands on our iPhone / iPod Touch!
Say you do the "hard" work. Now all you have to do is go to the store for applications and Wake on LAN applications. I personally tested three of them: NetAwake, RemoteBoot without permission.
BTW: Did I mention that these applications are free?
NetAwake
This is a screenshot to the Implementation NetAwake. Simple: Just add your computer name and MAC address, and click the nice shiny "Wake".
Like other applications, you can add many PCs as you like. But it also has a "Help" button with the following themes:
1. What is NetAwake?
2. How do I add a computer?
3. How do I enable Wake-On-LAN?
4. How I find my computer's MAC address?
5. Why not wake up my computer?
So there you have it, simple. And if you want, you also receive aid.
AWOL
AWOL takes a bit more information about your network. As NetAwake, you need the MAC address, but here also is it necessary to broadcast address and port.
The broadcast address is the last address of your network. For example, if your address IP is 192.168.1.22, then the broadcast address of your network is 192.168.1.255.
For the port, you only need to prove. According to the standard "package magic "is always sent to the ports 0, 7 or 9. So try those, and it should work.
RemoteBoot Lite
And the last is remote. As you can see in the picture, you have to put any additional information.
A little help is also in the usual button "i".
